What is Islamisation? - 3rd annual LUCIS conference
|Date||Thursday 15 November - Friday 16 November 2012|
|Location||Campus The Hague
Stichthage Building (in The Hague Central Station);
This conference aims to investigate the meaning of Islamisation today, from the perspective of sociology, anthropology, theology, law and history. The term Islamisation is used in newspapers and policy papers to describe a process which is said to characterise many modern societies all over the world. The term itself has strong influence on positions taken in social, political and cultural questions. But what is Islamisation? Does it refer to the conversion of new groups of Muslims, to changes in the public space of Western societies, or to new forms of piety or radicalism within the Muslim world?
