Trains run very regularly from the platforms below Schiphol Plaza to Leiden. Four times an hour a train leaves to take you to Leiden in 15 minutes. The Leiden University Visitors' Centre at the Leiden Railway Station can then direct you to your hotel.

Taxi's are available in front of the exits of the airport at the same level as the arrival halls. Taxi's can be arranged by the Visitors' Center at the railway station. Depending on the intensity of the traffic and the location of your hotel, the trip to Leiden will take approximately 30 minutes.

The City of Leiden

Leiden is a beautiful historic city with has much to offer: a medieval city centre with old buildings as the Gravensteen, the Pieterskerk, and the Burcht. Also Leiden University, the oldest university of the Netherlands founded in 1575, played an important role in the city’s history. Nowadays the presence of the university characterises much of Leiden’s atmosphere.

Leiden has twelve museums covering a wide variety of subjects, ranging from Antiquities and Medical History to Ethnology and Natural Sciences. Leiden is also renown for its many monuments in the city centre as well as for its high quantity of almshouses. However, just walking around and along canals and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere give you a good impression of what Leiden has to offer. For more information on Leiden you can visit the website of Leiden’s Tourist Office
